SKIJORING
The grand daddy
of 'em all
Ski Joring is a competition where a horse and rider pull a skier at a fast pace through a course that has gates, jumps, and rings. The skier is timed through the course, and penalties are assessed for missing gates or jumps, and for missing or dropping the baton or any of the rings. The competitors race for cash prizes, and teams are made up by a random draw before the start.

The Leadville Ski Joring event has been going on in Leadville since 1949, and is one of the premier events of its kind in the country.
Ski Joring is always the first Saturday and Sunday in March.
First Team to start each day will be at High Noon!

Competitor Information
Each year, hundreds of horses, riders, and skiers travel from across the world to compete on Historic Harrison Ave. All of them are seeing if they have what it takes to become the next king or queen of Leadville. At 10,200ft, Leadville Ski Joring proves to be one of the most difficult races on the calendar.
This year, we will have three divisions: open, sport, and novice (no snowmobile division). For competitors, it is crucial to come prepared. Please read over all rules and information on our competitors' page. If you have any additional questions after that, feel free to contact us. There is no online registration and registration is inperson.
